For an aspiring writer, one of the most difficult things to get is effective feedback. Members of writing groups are often too tepid in their critiques; readers in online communities can be overly positive and praiseful; even those who provide useful criticism rarely spell it out in a helpful way. This makes sense. It’s difficult to get people to really help you when they have no real motivation to provide you with the most useful analysis of your writing. When you are in a writing group do you really care about other people’s work? No! You are usually rushing through theirs and waiting to get to yours.
It’s different when you pay someone–and it should be.
As such, I’m offering my editing/reviewing services to any aspiring author. There are three options (see below), all priced the same.

I. The Main Services:

In Brief:
1) Is My Story Any Good? is the option that provides you with a thorough critique of all aspects of your narrative: plot, character, flow, and so on.
2) Am I Any Good? is the option that provides you with a critique of your writing style. Is it professional or amateurish? What do you most need to address and improve?
3) What Does It All Mean? is the option that helps you dig deeper into your work-in-progress to discover more complex thematic issues, symbolic patterns, and structural nuances when revising your narrative.

The Rate:
The rate is the same for any of the three editing/reviewing options: less than one penny a word. One cent a word is the standard rate for most editors offering services.
Sample pricing:
2,500 words: $22.50
5,000 words: $45.00
10,000 words: $90.00
20,000 words: $180.00
*All orders will be completed within three business days of me accepting your order, ensuring near instant feedback.
Contact me for anything higher than 20,000 words. I will still work for less than .01 a word, I just need you to let me know the word count and speak to me about a time frame for completion.
II. The Flat Rate Services–$15 Each
Want something faster and more inexpensive but still helpful? Try these options!
For each of the flat rate services, I will read a shorter amount of focused text and provide a reaction/advice for $15.
1) How’s My Beginning? The opening page of your novel/story can be the most important part of the whole thing! I’ll review just the beginning to see how it grabs my attention.
2) Dig Me Out Of This Hole! Having trouble with the flow of one scene? Not sure how to make it work? Send me the scene and I’ll provide my take on what it needs to make it work.
3) Critique This Scene! Send me one key scene from your text for my analysis/response.
4) Character Reaction: Want me to judge your character naming system? Review notes on a character? Review a representative scene of a character’s development? You choose, but I’ll give you some focused responses/advice on character-related topics with this option.
